Using Front Tilt For 4x5 Camera Portraits
I’ve been taking a deep dive lately into using the 4×5 camera for more and more portrait and figure work. In particular my Wista 45DX. For this particular image, I did some experimenting with front lens tilt to really fine tune the look I wanted in the final image.
Expired Film On A Silent Beach
I used to work with expired film a lot. That was of course back in the day when a roll of expired film cost about fifty cents. At that price is was worth the risk of making an image with unpredictable imperfections. Sometimes the risk paid off, sometimes it didn’t.
Nudes With 4x5 Film
I always feel a little intimidated to work with large format 4×5 film and people. When working with the nude in particular, there is a pressure to work quickly, which goes against the ethos of large format, a medium that rewards patience and taking your time.
Downtown Los Angeles With A Holga Plastic Camera
Spending a little time walking around Los Angeles with my plastic Holga camera. I used to never leave the house without a Holga camera with me and somewhere over time that changed. It might be time to rethink that philosophy.
