Frequently asked questions.
Who is Alexis Kennedy?
I’m fine-art photographer based in Portland, Oregon. My work explores the human figure, light, and form, often through traditional black-and-white film and darkroom processes.
I was born in California and studied History of Art and Visual Culture at the University of California, Santa Cruz, before relocating to the Pacific Northwest to focus on fine-art and analogue photography.
Can I purchase prints of Alexis Kennedy’s Work?
Yes. Limited-edition fine-art prints are available through:
Each print is hand-processed and signed, with edition sizes typically ranging from 5 to 15 copies. If there is a specific image you are interested in but do not see in the print store please feel free to ask.
Does Alexis Kennedy accept commissions?
I gladly accept commissions!! Come to me with a specific request or need and we can certainly discuss if my style and work is a good fit for the project. I’m always up for a unique challenge. Art is about pushing boundaries and working through challenges so I tend to approach new situations head on.
How do I contact Alexis Kennedy?
Email is usually the best way, alexiskennedyphoto@gmail.com. I find it thrilling to get unsolicited email. Random comments and questions about photography. Off the wall thoughts. Just saying hello. Whatever strikes your fancy!
You can also reach out to me via social media. Instagram and Blue Sky tend to be the platforms I am most active on.
Are all the models in Alexis Kennedy’s portfolio professional?
Some of the models I’ve photographed are working professionals. Many of the people you see in my portfolio are not. Over the years I’ve worked with a great many individuals who just simply wanted to know what it is like to pose for photographs. I’m happy to work with anyone who has a willingness to be creative and have fun while making art. It doesn’t matter if they have years of experience or if they have never been in front of a camera before.
What if I want to pose? Will Alexis Kennedy work with me?
Absolutely yes! Experience level, age, body type, and gender do not matter. If you are interested in working together then send me an e-mail and let’s figure something out. While my general Portfolio on this site is a good way to gauge the kind of work I’m interested in doing, don’t be afraid to come to me with ideas and requests. Making photographs should always be a collaboration.
Is film the only medium Alexis Kennedy works with?
Believe it or not, but no. I started my journey with photography during a time when film was the only option. That means I’m old! Digital photography came on the scene when I was a teenager and I fully recognize that it is an important and often useful medium. I’ve done plenty of work I’m proud of with digital cameras but I do prefer the more hands on, slow, and deliberate approach of film photography. At the end of the day however, making images is the most important thing and I encourage people to work with the medium that is most accessible to them.
